HTC has kept a very shy pace of smartphone releases in recent years. Following a steep decline in global market share and consecutive losses, the company continues to insist and proves that it will not leave this sector as easily as it had said in November 2018, the year it had the worst performance since 2003 laying off more than 1500 employees.
Now more restructured, the manufacturer continues to expand the smartphone line with the new Desire 19s after the joint launch of 19 Plus and U19e and also the return of the Wildfire X line.
The Desire 19s stands out for its unusual yet beautiful design, something HTC has known how to do. The new model has a rear with two different finishes under the glass: part being smooth and part textured. We still have on the back cover a set of three main cameras and a biometric reader.
Equipped with the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, HTC implements a simple combination of 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card, something that will likely be needed by most users. The operating system is Android 9 Pie with its own Sense UI interface.
The front panel features 2.5D curved edge-only glass for a better finish, and we see a 6.2-inch 19: 9 aspect ratio IPS LCD technology panel with 1520x720p resolution and drop-shaped notch to house the front camera.
And speaking of cameras, the selfie sensor is 16 MP with f / 2.0 aperture, while the back cover sensors offer 13 MP resolution with traditional ef / 1.85 lenses, another 5 MP with 118º wide-angle lens and a latest 5 MP sensor for depth of field data.
The handset features Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and reversible USB Type-C connectivity. It has a battery capacity of 3,850 mAh and supports only 10W of charging power, not as fast as 18W standards found in other models.
