xCloud? Patent application shows Microsoft plans to control smartphones

xCloudGoogle Stadia came as the search giant’s solution to compete with giants of the gaming market. But it turns out that the owner of Gmail was not the only one interested in cloud games, with Microsoft already studying its platform for some time.

It has been announced that xCloud would already be able to run 3,500 titles available for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and well, it seems that just like the Stadia there may be hardware to help gamers in the hour of gambling.

It was discovered that Microsoft patented a smartphone control that splits into two pieces to fit on the sides of the device. Both “pieces” would hug the edges of a cell phone, and synchronize with them via Bluetooth.

The first, on the left side, would be dedicated to the main analog with digital directional, plus a button possibly to pause the games, as well as the Xbox home. On the right side, we would have the lever generally used for camera angles besides the buttons X, A, Y, and B, with one more button “start” and another “home”.

From the images provided in the project, it is possible to identify buttons like L and R.

Another curiosity is that the project provides anatomical supports in at least three levels for the most diverse types of hands.

It is not possible to say that this novelty will see the light of day at some moment or if the giant of Redmond already ruled this possibility. But, in fact, it would be an interesting addition to enjoy the catalog of xCloud – whatever it may be.
