Gamer who killed innocent gets 15 months in prison in US

Gamer Gamer Casey Viner was sentenced to 15 months in prison last Friday in the United States. He is guilty of causing the death of an innocent young man two years ago after an online match of Call of Duty.

Before him, Tyler Barriss had received his 20-year jail sentence for the same case. Viner had previously concealed his involvement but pleaded guilty in April of this year.

Understand the case

In December 2017, a Call of Duty: World War II match spawned the death of young Andrew Finch in Wichita, Kansas. Tyler Barriss, Casey Viner and Shane Gaskill were playing when the last two started arguing.

Following, Viner forced Barriss to call the police and make a complaint to Gaskill’s address. The boy agreed to make the phone prank call. However, the friend no longer lived there, but Finch – who had nothing to do with the trio. The result: the police shot the innocent. Subsequently, the three gamers were arrested.

Repercussion

Finch’s family even filed a lawsuit for the young man’s death, but the lawsuit is still pending. Prosecutors refused to make any charges against the policeman who killed the boy. Already Gaskill has made a deal by “deferred process” and may leave free.
