WhatsApp releases dark mode on first test with beta users on Android

WhatsApp After the self-destructive messages, now is the time for WhatsApp to finally start testing with the dark mode in its beta version for Android. The new feature has been enabled in build 2.19.282 and already provides insight into how the feature will work in the messenger.

According to WABetaInfo, dark mode is already emerging for some users within the new “themes” option. It will be available on the settings page and should present three options to the user. The Light theme is the default mode that everyone has been using for a few years.

The Dark theme is the long-awaited dark mode, and the “System Default” option should respect the theme of the system itself. That is, the messenger must follow the pattern set by Android in its settings. See some screenshots :

For now, the news is only available to some beta users. This is because there are cases where the application has already reached version 2.19.282, but the dark mode has not been activated by WhatsApp yet.

Also, although the feature is working, it is still somewhat unstable. In some cases, there are a number of problems with the text color, which can become unreadable depending on the colors used.

So far, WhatsApp has not yet announced when it intends to release dark mode for all users. Even so, given the advanced stage of development, this should not take long.
