Apple was keen to set aside time when introducing new iPhones to talk about the A13 Bionic. This is Apple’s latest chipset, much higher in power than the A12, and it also leaves the Snapdragon 855 eating a lot of dust.
It is manufactured to a size of 7 nanometers and has 1.5 billion more transistors than its predecessor, showing a strong investment by Cupertino giant in this area. Of course, many are eager to see how Qualcomm will counterattack, and it may do so sooner.
Until then it was expected that the manufacturer would officially replace the Snapdragon 855 and 855 Plus replacement only in December, but according to a report from Digital Chat Station – via Weibo – the company anticipated plans and is expected to bring the new SoC to the world in November.
Reasons have not been spelled out, but in the coming weeks Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Oppo are expected to start prototype testing using the new chips in China. Huawei has been left out of conflicts with the US government, particularly following the harsh sanctions imposed by Donald Trump.
Although it still does not have a confirmed name, from history we can imagine that the new processor will come to the world with the name Snapdragon 865.
In fact, Qualcomm’s biggest challenge is beating Apple’s A13 Bionic, which can be a luxury for marketing purposes, as the company has in recent years achieved an excellent level of performance with its flagship SoCs. Even Huawei’s Kirin 990 lags behind the Snapdragon 855 Plus despite being newer and Samsung’s Exynos don’t claim to be the fastest chipsets on the market.
