Netflix started to release this week, definitively, the function “Download for you” in the version of its application for Android devices. This novelty began testing in 2019 and has since been available to a very limited group of users.
Now, however, Gigante do Streaming has started to provide the function in a stable way in the application and, with that, users will be able to access some content automatically downloaded on the platform, according to the company’s algorithms.
The “Download for you” function allows the Netflix application to find and download some titles – be it series or movies – that have not yet been watched by the user so that they can be viewed offline. The contents downloaded automatically by the new function will be available in the “Downloads” tab of the Android app, in a dedicated area.
The feature works similarly to Smart Download (or Smart Download). However, its differential is that the user does not need to navigate between the platform’s content options to choose a downloadable title.
Another advantage is that it is possible to set a limit on space for the application to download content through the “Download for you” function. By default, the application defines that it is possible to download a maximum of 1 GB of files, but this value can be changed in the Netflix settings for Android.
So far there is no prediction for the functionality to arrive on iOS phones, but it is possible that testing with Apple phones will soon begin.
The novelty began to be gradually implemented in mobile phones equipped with the Google operating system and, therefore, it may take a few days before all Android users have access to the “Download for you” mode.
