Huawei gives up on Samsung and reaffirms commitment to Android

HuaweiDespite constant rumors and even statements about the possible launch of a proprietary operating system, Huawei does not intend to end its marriage with Android. The guarantee came from the company’s chief of products and consumers, Walter Ji, in an interview with PhoneArena of the United States.

For him, while the US government still does not know very well what to do, Huawei has no intention of abandoning Android. This is because the company “contributed significantly” to the development of the Google system by offering new solutions and innovations to its users.

Ji further revealed that the Chinese giant invested more than $ 15 billion last year in research and development. For him, that number is much higher than that recorded by the competition, something that can not be overlooked. So at the moment, Huawei is no longer interested in overtaking Samsung in the number of handsets sold.

According to Ji, Huawei’s new goal is to focus on promoting more advanced technologies to its users. In one example, the executive cited that 5G is one of the key factors for the company’s worldwide growth in the corporate and consumer market.

When asked about a lawsuit the company moves against the US government, Ji said the Chinese is struggling for the Trump administration to provide evidence that it is used for espionage. The case has not yet been tried, but the Justice Department has filed a motion to have the action overturned.

Huawei promises to appeal on the grounds that the simple ban in the country can not be made without the presentation of evidence and without trial. While the case is not resolved, Ji states that the US ban is not a problem :

This is not a death sentence for Huawei nor does it prevent the company from committing itself to its work
