Instagram continues to implement a series of changes to its interface to prioritize Reels content. This time, the head of the social network, Adam Mosseri, announced a test on a global scale.
According to the executive, users should receive three new interface options in the Instagram application over the next few weeks. The intention of the social network is to verify which option gains more popularity among the public.
Anyway, the content will be focused on two options: purchases and Reels. So, no matter what version the user receives, these two tabs will be highlighted, since they reflect “changes in public preference”.
Although very similar, the interfaces above have some details that change places :
- Option 1: the Explore tab goes to the top of the screen (next to Direct and Activities), while the Moments (Reels) option takes its place in the bottom bar.
- Option 2: The Moments tab is taken to the center and Explore remains in the same place. The Activities tab continues next to Direct.
- Option 3: Instagram moves the new content button to the top and leaves the bottom with six icons: Activities, Explore, Shopping, Moments, in addition to Home and Profile.
For now, the social network does not clarify the duration of the tests. Anyway, Mosseri confirmed that the news should be released to the public over the next few weeks.
