As we know, WhatsApp has been testing the dark mode in its version for Android and iOS. However, so far, the messenger has not yet given any indication that he wants to bring the news to his desktop version.
So, aware of the public’s call for a dark mode for PCs, an XDA forum developer has decided to create a mod that brings news to the app. According to m4heshd, the installation process is very simple.
However, it requires the desktop version to be the one officially downloaded from the WhatsApp website. This is because the Script does not work with the application downloaded directly from the Microsoft Store or App Store.
The developer also clarifies that his mod only changes the visible user interface. As such, it does not have access to the message history, nor does it alter any important part of the WhatsApp client. If you want to test, just follow the walkthrough below:
- Log in to GitHub and download the version for Windows or macOS
- Open WhatsApp Client
- Run the WADark file and wait
- After the process, WhatsApp should be automatically reopened.

For security reasons, the developer recommends that the user not delete the downloaded folder. This is because the script creates a backup of the original interface. This makes it possible to go back to standard mode quite simply.
