While undergoing a controversial change in its terms of use, WhatsApp may also end up receiving yet another controversial feature. According to the WABetaInfo staff, the messenger can gain more integration with Instagram’s Reels.
Launched as a kind of TikTok competitor , Instagram Reels features short videos that can be viewed and shared on other social networks.
It is not yet clear whether the Reels feature will be added directly to the WhatsApp application or whether the novelty will allow viewing of shared videos via links in chats, for example. WABetaInfo has already confirmed the intention of the messenger developers:
@WhatsApp is working on the possibility to play #Instagram Reels within WhatsApp, for a future update.

If this integration with Reels follows the same mechanics used with Facebook and YouTube, the user will be able to watch the videos directly in the WhatsApp chat without having to open the link.
For now, WhatsApp does not comment on the matter, nor does it clarify the doubt. Thus, it is not possible to know when the novelty will enter tests with beta users or will be available to everyone.

Anyway, this greater integration between Facebook products was already expected. The most curious point is that the social network has been trying to kill TikTok at all costs. Recently, we saw that the company can launch its own Reels while promoting an app dedicated to the format.
